March 2007

It’s no surprise that J.D. Durbin was put on waivers and then picked up by the Diamondbacks yesterday. His ST ERA this year is over 10, plus he calls himself “The Real Deal” when his Major League performance suggests otherwise.

Carlos Silva pitched for us yesterday, allowing just 2 hits over 5 innings. He did not give up a run, which kind of sucks. It seems to me that the Twins’ management will see this start as a sign of improvement. I hope they’re right, because I see it as a fluke start. I don’t disagree with starting Matt Garza in AAA, because frankly I didn’t think he was ready when he was brought up last season (and if you remember, the Twins didn’t think he was ready because they were hesitant to do so) and although he still has a ton of potential, his numbers while in the bigs were nothing spectacular (but I must say he did a decent job of keeping us in games). The first month of the season will definitely be interesting, to finally see these new pitchers in a real game that actually counts.

I know it’s been awhile since my last post, but the season is incredibly close and you’ll see regular posts then. I do have some news about some players that were recently cut. (more…)

The Twins lost 5-6 to the Red Sox yesterday, but that’s all I’ve got for today. I promise I’ll post regular recaps when the season gets rolling.

Ron Gardenhire has hinted at what the rotation will be, and it doesn’t include Matt Garza, Glen Perkins, or Kevin Slowey. It does include Sidney Ponson. Remember though, this is very preliminary and Gardenhire says it isn’t final, so there’s still hope.

The Twins won their ST game yesterday with ace Johan Santana throwing 5 scoreless innings, lowering his spring ERA to 0.64. Slowey gave up 3 runs in 1 inning to make the game close, but Justin Morneau‘s homer made sure the Twins kept the lead.

There’s actually a post today.

No post for you today because my internet has been acting up and I haven’t been able to get anywhere. Luckily I can post this. Look for a post on Friday though.

No post for today sorry.

Sorry for not having a post on Wednesday, I meant to make a post saying no post for today but forgot to publish it. I do have a post for you today, though. (more…)

The Twins couldn’t muster any offense in Johan Santana‘s spring debut yesterday, falling to the Red Sox 6-1. Scott Baker got shelled, throwing 2 innings but giving up 6 hits and 5 runs (all earned), while walking 2 and striking out 1.

It seems that Johan wants to get a deal done as soon as possible.

I have added some new scans to my autographs page. Michael Cuddyer is one of the new entries.

The Twins played a Spring Training game yesterday against the Yankees, but basically lost after the first inning. (more…)
