The Twins scored 9 times last night to go with 13 hits and 0 errors to finally get a win in which they score some dang runs. Matt Garza pitched only 4 and 1/3 innings, allowing 5 hits and 4 runs with 4 walks, but he did strike out 6. None of the runs came on homeruns, either.

Justin Morneau was probably the highlight of the offensive, going 2-for-4 with 3 RBIs and a walk. His first hit was an RBI single in the bottom of the third to tie the game at 2, and his second hit was a 2-RBI double that tied the game at 4. He advanced to third on the throw home, and the guy who bats after Morneau knocked him in with a single.

Joe Mauer had a productive night at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a walk, raising his batting average to .348.

Pat Neshek got the official win, coming in after Dennys Reyes pitched to two batters and recorded an out. Pat had 1.1 innings of work and gave up 2 hits and struck out 2. Some of you might be thinking “gee Pat gives up some hits while he pitches” and you’re right. However, his numbers are significantly better with runners on base. I’ll show them in my next post, no time right now.

On another note, Carlos Silva apologized to his teammates for taking himself out of the game last Wednesday. ‘”He apologized about coming out of the ballgame and told us he wished he would have tried to stay out there and do something different, because we lost the ballgame,” Gardenhire said.’

Boof Bonser pitches tonight at 6:10. He needs to pitch 6 good innings in order to give us a shot, I think. Johan Santana pitches Sunday afternoon at 1:10, and that game will be broadcast on Fox 29.
