Not a whole lot going on in the baseball world.

Shea Hillenbrand agreed to a 1-year contract with the Angels, with a club option for 2008. The specifics of the contract were not released.

One of the last well-known pitchers on the free agent market signed with the Brewers on Christmas Eve. Jeff Suppan agreed to a 4-year, $42 million deal. Apparently, the Brewers’ GM said, “This guy has more wins than Barry Zito over the last three years”¹.

In two non-baseball news items, singer James Brown died early Christmas morning. He was admitted to the hospital for pneumonia,  but nobody knows yet what he really died of.

Also, former president Gerald Ford passed away last evening. He was the only president to not be elected to either presidency or vice presidency.
