Only one deal that happened since Wednesday, and it’s a pretty big one.

Barry Zito, arguably the best pitcher that was on the market, is now off. The San Francisco Giants agreed to a 7-year, $126 million deal with the lefty. His deal is the 6th largest in MLB history, and the largest for a pitcher. Johan Santana‘s contract, I fear, is going to look something like Zito’s.

I want to make a correction to something I said on Wednesday. I said, “One of the last known pitchers on the free agent market,” in reference to Jeff Suppan. What I meant was, “One of the last well-known pitchers on the free agent market.”

The next time I post, it will be 2007. Have a safe and happy New Year’s Eve, everybody.
