Happy April everybody! April usually means spring, and spring always means baseball! Opening day (night) was last night with the champion Cardinals facing the Mets. Tom Glavine pitched a great game for the Mets, allowing just one run through 6 innings of work, earning him his 291st win. The Twins play tonight at 6:05 (according to mlb.com), but be sure to check your TV Guide to make sure.

Hall of Fame broadcaster Herb Carneal passed away yesterday, from congestive heart failure. He had been in the hospital recently, and was supposed to work tonight’s game, but then asked for some more time off because he hadn’t completely recovered.

The start of the season means the start of regular blogging, so expect a post from me every morning, recapping the previous day’s game.

Oh, and if you’re bored, check out why Aaron Gleeman has pitcher Johan Santana and the term “cure cancer” in the same sentence.
