Carlos Silva pitched extremely well again, throwing 6 and 2/3 shutout innings. He gave up 7 hits and 2 walks but struck out 4 to lower his season ERA to .77 (lower than both Ortiz‘s and Santana‘s).

Juan Rincon was back with the team but was very rusty. He gave up a homer and another run while recording just 1 out. He gave up a single after the homer and then walked a guy before another batter knocked one in with a single. Pat Neshek was put in with two runners on and struck out the next two batters to end the inning, but not before Silva was off the hook for the win (although, I suppose, you want to be on the hook for the W).

Justin Morneau came up in the bottom of the 9th and skied one to left field. It barely made it into the stands (we’re talking first row) but the LF for the Devil Rays didn’t line up for the jump properly so he missed it, ending the game.

Michael Cuddyer hit his first homer of the season in the 4th with Joe Mauer on base.

Tonight’s game is going to back a lot of fun to watch. The Twins send out Johan while the D-Rays send out their ace, Scott Kazmir, both of whom are K machines. Kazmir struck out 10 guys in a row in his last start, and Johan had that 1-hit gem against the White Sox.
