Johan Santana struck out 10, including the side in the 7th, and allowed 4 runs in 7 innings but the Twins could not get anything going against Scott Kazmir of the Devil Rays.

Justin Morneau was the only highlight on offense, going 2-for-4 with a double and a solo homer, his 4th of the season.

Carl Crawford of Tampa got an inside-the-park homerun when Josh Rabe, playing in left, misplayed a ball and it skidded past him into the corner. Crawford is one of the fastest guys in the league so the throw home wasn’t really close.

The “heart” of the order was hitless with Nick Punto, Joe Mauer, and Michael Cuddyer all going 0-for-4, Joe and Michael each with 2 strikeouts. Mauer also grounded into a double play.

Glen Perkins got his first Major League action of the year, recording 2 outs while striking out 1 and walking 1.

Sidney Ponson takes the hill tonight in game 3 of this 4-game series. The game starts at 6:10 tonight, according to mlb.com.
