Sidney Ponson didn’t pitch that well, but I guess if he gives up 2 runs every 5 and 1/3 innings for the rest of the season, he’d exceed expectations. He walked 3 and struck out 6, but gave up 8 hits and just 57% of his pitches were strikes (for example, Johan Santana threw 71% strikes two days ago when he lost). He said himself “I didn’t do my job today”.

It was a mixed lineup though, with Jason Tyner starting in center (and batting 2nd), Torii Hunter DHing, Luis Rodriguez playing at 3rd and Nick Punto sitting on the bench. You know how the 2-3-4 hitters were hitless when against Scott Kazmir two games ago? Well, Tyner-Joe MauerMichael Cuddyer combined to go 7-for-12 with 9 runs scored along with 4 RBI. That’s the kind of production you like to see from those guys.

Meanwhile, Justin Morneau and Hunter combined to go 4-for-10 with 5 RBI and a stolen base (gone to Torii…Justin might be the slowest runner in the league).

I have added a new link to the links area, #1 Johan Santana Card Collector. It’s run by a guy who collects stuff of Johan’s and just got a new site. It’s really sharp looking, and he has a lot of nice stuff on there. If you’ve got a moment, please check it out.

By the time you’re done reading this, the Twins game has probably already started. It starts at 1:10 today and as I type this up, it’s 11:54. Boof Bonser looks to redeem himself after his last start, and the Devil Rays are the team to do it against.
