Jesse Crain and Joe Nathan combined for the loss, although it officially went to Crain. Crain gave up 2 runs in the top of the 12th and Nathan came in to give up 2 that were credited to Jesse. It was a game that saw our bullpen get worked, and puts more pressure on Johan Santana to give us 7 or 8 strong innings tonight.

Carlos Silva gave us 5 decent innings, giving up just 3 runs. He allowed 7 hits, one of them being the 3-run homer in the top of the 5th that gave the Tribe the lead. It took Silva 103 pitches to go that far into the game, which is a pretty bad number to be honest. For a guy that pitched 9 innings with 73 pitches or whatever it was, there’s still something going on with Carlos..

Torii Hunter hit a solo homer in the 7th and Alexi Casilla followed up with a 2-run double to tie the game at 3. Joe Mauer and Jason Bartlett had 2 hits apiece, and Justin Morneau had 1 and that was the extent of the Twins’ hitting (plus Hunter’s 2 hits and Casilla’s 2 hits)..

Luis Castillo is still out, and he’s still listed as day-to-day. I would guess he’ll be back after the Kansas City series. The schedule right now is a 2-game contest with the Indians (half over) and then 3 games playing host to the Royals, and then a trip to Detroit. Thursday’s game is at 12:10, not sure if that will be on the radio or the TV or what..

Again, Johan pitches tonight so it should be pretty exciting. The pitcher the Indians are tossing out there has a 1-11 record in his career. He’s allowed 8 runs in 10 and 1/3 innings this year, so I’m optimistic we’ll be able to light him up and give Santana some run support.
