Never again will I be so optimistic about our offense. It made me sick watching a guy named Fausto Carmona (not surprisingly, Bert couldn’t pronounce it) pitch 7 and 2/3 innings. At one point, at the start of the 5th, he’d thrown just 51 pitches. This team is impatient and they hack at the ball if it’s over their heads or at their wrists, but when it’s a floater over the middle they don’t seem to hit it beyond the infield and out of the park.

The “Piranhas” did crap, going 1-for-13 with a walk and a strikeout. Johan Santana pitched 7 innings like we needed him to, but a couple close calls didn’t go his way and Alexi Casilla double clutched a ball that could’ve stopped a run from scoring. Jason Kubel had a nice night, going 3-for-4 with an RBI in the 9th. We play the Royals for a 2-game series now, and I’m not going to say anything, because the way this team is playing, anything can happen.
