Johan Santana got the loss in the first game, but he only gave up 2 runs. The 4 bullpen members that pitched after him gave up a run each, except Juan Rincon, who gave up 2. Justin Morneau hit a 2-run homer to make it 5-3 but then Rincon came in and gave up his 2.

In yesterday’s game it was just about over when it started, with Sidney Ponson giving up 2 runs in the top of the 1st.

We had as many hits as they did (10) but we had 8 singles and 2 doubles; they had 2 doubles, a 2-run homer, and 7 singles all relatively close to each other.

Morneau got hit in the face with a ball that bounced badly off the turf and broke his nose, but they popped it back into place and he says he wants to play tonight. We can only hope, because the lineup we have with Morneau is doing terrible. Imagine what it would be like without him. Although, in fairness to the hitters, when your starter gives up 5 earned runs in 4 innings, that doesn’t give you a great chance to get into the game. The final game in the series is tonight at 7:05.
