Carlos Silva pitched only 4 and 1/3 innings, giving up 9 hits and 7 runs. Surprisingly, that wasn’t the worst pitching performance of the night. Reliever Julio DePaula got through only 1 inning, but gave up 6 hits and 7 runs, 6 of those earned. He also walked 3 people. Glen Perkins went 2 and 1/3 and didn’t give up a hit.

We were in the game when the score was 4-2, but then the fifth inning came around. Silva struggled early, and when DePaula came in he gave up a grand slam to really bust the game open. We scored two garbage runs in the 7th off of a wild pitch and a groundout, but by that time the score was 14-4 and there was really no chance for us to come back.

Look for a rebound tonight when Johan Santana (4-4, 3.26 in 58 IP) faces off against Kameron Loe (1-2, 6.21 in 42 IP).

The Dennys Reyes situation: he won’t be placed on the DL, but will be “unavailable” until Friday.

It also is rumored that Perkins might be placed on the DL due to a strained muscle below his left shoulder. All this in Joe Christensen’s blog today.
