Boof Bonser gave up 9 hits in just 5 innings, but only 3 runs, and his offense helped him out by scoring 3 runs in the first and they never trailed. Boof’s first inning almost went bad though, when Dmitri Young hit a ball into the upper deck that was originally called fair. After a discussion, the home plate umpire ruled it a foul ball, taking away the 2 runs it would’ve scored. I couldn’t tell if it was fair or not because the camera angles that FSN was giving me weren’t going down the line. Bonser also struck out 5 and walked 2.

Torii Hunter led the team at the plate, going 3-for-4 with 3 runs scored and an RBI. Jason Bartlett was 3-for-5 with 2 RBI, amidst talks that he could be benched, if the Twins make a trade for a 3B at the trading deadline. Don’t get your hopes up though, this team has needed a power hitting 3B/DH and they haven’t traded for one in the past.

Matt Guerrier, Pat Neshek, and Joe Nathan all provided scoreless relief, with Nathan picking up his 14th save of the season. Guerrier and Neshek continue to be great, dependable guys to anchor our bullpen.

The team is off today but play the Braves for the next 3 days. Expect Joe Mauer to be playing for all of them, as they are all night games. He apparently wanted to play yesterday, but Gardy sat him anyway.

Tomorrow look for that New Britain post, I’ve been procrastinating for some reason but with no game to talk about it will be something to put up here.

And I know I said I’d put this up last night, but the series finale of The Sopranos was on, and I’m a fan of the show so I had to watch it. If you haven’t seen it yet and plan on watching it soon, don’t read any more of this post.

I must say, the ending wasn’t quite what I expected. With the whole family gathering at different times in a diner, and the camera panning to suspicious looking people, I and just about everyone else watching thought somebody was going to get shot. Meadow (Tony’s daughter) was the last one there, and when she walked in the door the camera went to a close up of her face and then the screen went black. The last thing you heard was a “Don’t stop” part from the song Don’t Stop Believin’ by Journey. There are many different theories, one being that Tony got shot because multiple times this season he or someone talking to him has said that “You probably don’t even hear it coming” (referring to getting shot), and everything just went black. A lot of people initially thought their cable/satellite went out, but then the credits came on and those same people were in disbelief, thinking another season or a movie was coming out, or shock, not quite comprehending what just happened.
