Kevin Slowey didn’t have his best stuff, allowing 4 earned runs over 6 innings, with 3 of the 5 total runs scored while he was in the game coming off of home runs (2 separate ones). He didn’t walk anybody and struck out 5.

The offense battled back a couple of times though, with the score 5-5 going into the top of the 8th inning. After a 1-2-3 inning in the 7th, reliever Matt Guerrier stayed in to pitch the 8th. He gave up a double, followed by a homer, then he recorded an out, but after that he hit slugger Frank Thomas (who currently has 499 career home runs) and allowed a single. He allowed another single to load the bases and was finally replaced by Dennys Reyes, who allowed a sac fly but nothing more. It clearly wasn’t a typical Guerrier outing, but that’s his third loss this season.

The game tonight starts at 7:10 and Scott Baker will try to win it for us.
