The team lost the first game 5-1, but Boof Bonser didn’t pitch too bad, allowing 4 runs over 7 innings. He didn’t walk anybody and struck out 3. Carmen Cali came in and walked in a run. The Twins managed just 1 run even though they had 4 doubles.

The second game was much better with the Twins winning 11-4.  Michael Cuddyer and Torii Hunter both homered, the first home runs for the Twins this month. Justin Morneau thought he had a homer, but after the umpires discussed it they ruled it a double. It definitely was a home run though, they messed up. It didn’t matter because Torii’s home run was right after that. Johan Santana allowed 2 runs in 6 innings and struck out 6.

Yesterday’s game was really awful. Matt Garza has pitched his heart out since being called up, and with a 1.70 ERA he has 3 losses to show for it. He pitched 6 and 2/3 innings, allowed only 4 hits (2 of them in the 7th inning when he started to struggle) and the lone run came from a sacrifice fly. Joe Mauer, Cuddyer, Morneau, and Hunter combined for just 1 hit in 16 at-bats. Michael struck out all 4 times he went to the plate. Alexi Casilla had 2 of the team’s 4 hits while Jason Kubel had a double and Torii had a single.

Now for some pictures…I took around 500 or so, and there are a lot that are repeats because I tried to time Boof or Johan when they were pitching. I’ll post just a few of my favorites here and you can look at them all at http://picasaweb.google.com/frymaster/KCTwinsBaseball

Now the team is on the road for 3 games against the Angels and the Mariners. All games should start at 9:00 central time but I’ll let you know if one is in the afternoon. Scott Baker throws tonight for us.
