In his past two starts against the Royals, Scott Baker allowed 3 hits over 17 innings pitched. In last night’s game, he allowed 10 hits in just 5 and 2/3 IP. However, 8 of those were singles, but it’s evident that he kept us in the game because he picked up his 9th win of the season.

Joe Mauer had 2 doubles with a run and an RBI and Jason Bartlett (batting leadoff) and Torii Hunter also had 2 hits with a run and an RBI. Hunter’s RBI was his 100th of the season. Alexi Casilla, batting 9th, was 2-for-4 with 2 runs scored, a stolen base, and a fielding error.

Juan Rincon, Pat Neshek, Matt Guerrier, and Joe Nathan pitched 3 and 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball with Nathan picking up his 32nd save on the year.

Matt LeCroy was called up from AAA to be the back up catcher to Mauer as long as Mike Redmond is out. LeCroy has played with the Twins before, and his numbers at AAA are nothing special; his call-up was out of necessity and not because he really deserved it.

Today’s game starts at 1:10 and Carlos Silva will try to get the team back to the .500 mark.
